Welcome to Retirement in Perspective – Non-Financial Retirement Preparation Services
Space to Reflect. Strategies to Grow. Support to Flourish.
Helping you to put Retirement in Perspective – More than the end of a career; it is the beginning of a deeply personal transformation.
Meet Ansie Cloete
Ansie is a Non-Financial Retirement Coach, helping people navigate the transition into retirement by focusing on the emotional, relational and identity shifts that shape this life stage beyond the financial checklist.
Don’t simply retire from something; have something to retire to.
– Harry Emerson Fosdick
Originally from South Africa, she gained extensive international experience in counselling, psychology, corporate training, leadership development and tertiary education.
After thirteen rewarding years running her private psychology practice, Life in Perspective, she made a purposeful shift in 2024. She stepped away from psychological therapy and now works exclusively as a Non-Financial Retirement Coach.
Her work is quietly grounded in her Christian faith, shaping the compassion, integrity, and hope she brings to every client relationship.
Ansie has noticed how many people approach retirement with high expectations – imagining freedom, rest and long-awaited possibility.
While financial planning support is widely available, the emotional, relational and identity shifts of retirement are often overlooked, leading to challenges such as retirement shock, disenchantment, loss of purpose, relevance deprivation and even grey divorce. At its heart, retirement is a deeply personal transition, requiring careful preparation.
Alongside her Coaching Service, Ansie developed a Seminar and her Signature Workshop: Retirement in Perspective to help people prepare for this transition with clarity, confidence, and emotional wellbeing - so retirement becomes not an ending, but a meaningful and exciting new beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a psychologist and a coach?
A psychologist is a registered mental-health professional trained to assess, diagnose, and treat emotional or behavioural concerns using evidence-based therapeutic methods.
A coach is a future-focused facilitator who supports clarity, motivation, and goal setting without providing clinical treatment.
Both roles are valuable, but they serve different purposes: Psychologists focus on healing while Coaches focus on growth.
Does Ansie still provide psychological therapy and relationship counselling?
No. Ansie no longer offers psychological therapy or relationship counselling. Her work is now dedicated exclusively to Non financial Retirement Coaching.
Coaching is future focused, motivational and growth oriented, and does not replace professional psychological or counselling services.
If reflective coaching work highlights a need for therapy, clients will be guided to seek appropriate support.
Are there Medicare rebates available for the Retirement Coaching service?
No. Coaching is not a clinical service, and therefore Medicare rebates do not apply.
What is the difference between Retirement Coaching, the Retirement in Perspective Workshop or the Seminar?
Retirement Coaching offers individualised, 60–minute conversations with practical tools and reflective exercises to implement between sessions. The number of sessions is flexible and shaped around each client’s needs.
Retirement in Perspective Workshop is a half day, once off presentation that provides a broad, structured overview of key retirement considerations. It suits people 2–3 years before retirement, as well as those semi-retired or newly retired. Participants receive a curated workbook, take home resources, and may choose the optional reflective journal. Follow up coaching sessions can be booked afterwards.
Retirement in Perspective Seminar is a short 60 – 90-minute presentation for groups, introducing the essentials of non-financial retirement preparation, available on request at a flat presentation rate.
Is it better to attend the workshop as an individual, a couple or as a group?
Attending as an individual or couple allows for more personal reflection and confidential discussion.
Group attendance offers shared learning, connection with others facing similar transitions, and reduced costs.
Will confidentiality be maintained?
All information shared during coaching sessions and courses is treated as private and confidential in line with ethical standards.
In group settings, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to the shared environment, though respectful behaviour is strongly encouraged.
